A filmmaker from MPI’s network has a new feature film playing in theaters nationwide.
Producer John Logan Pierson worked on Los Últimos Frikis, an MPI-supported documentary about Cuban heavy metal band Zeus and its pursuit of artistic freedom under decades of government repression.
Now, John has produced The Brink of War, a historical drama centered on the 1986 Reykjavík Summit, where President Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev met for two days of high-stakes negotiations at a pivotal moment in the Cold War.
Starring Jeff Daniels as Reagan, Jared Harris as Gorbachev, and J.K. Simmons as Secretary of State George Shultz, The Brink of War explores Soviet power, deterrence, and the courage required to negotiate with an adversary without surrendering principle.
John’s work on Los Últimos Frikis and now The Brink of War demonstrates how filmmakers from MPI’s network continue to advance in the entertainment industry and to bring stories about freedom to wide audiences.
The Brink of War is now playing in theaters nationwide through Angel Studios. See the film on the big screen at a theater near you.
