The MPI Original and BET Original feature narrative film Kemba will premiere on Thursday, February 22 on the popular BET+ streaming platform and will subsequently air on BET, BETHer, and BET International. Based on the life of Kemba Smith, Kemba follows a college student who falls in love with a man, only to learn he is a drug kingpin. He leads Kemba down a path of abuse and manipulation, placing her in the middle of the government’s “war on drugs” and ultimately landing her in federal prison. Nesta Cooper (Apple TV’s See) stars in the titular role with Siddiq Saunderson (Wu-Tang: An American Saga), Sean Patrick Thomas (Till), and Michelle Hurd (Star Trek: Picard) rounding out the star-studded cast.
