The New Yorker’s top film critic Richard Brody released his list of what films deserve to be nominated for Oscars this year, choosing the MPI Original Pinball to compete in many of the top categories. 

Brody’s picks include nominations for Pinball in the following: best picture, best supporting actress for Crystal Reed, best actor for Mike Faist, and best original screenplay. 

Writing on Pinball, Brody praises the film’s “insight and wit” and hails the performances of Reed and Faist. Brody highlights Faist’s performance as Roger Sharpe, exclaiming “he endows the role…with a wry candor and a bouncy energy that match the real-life story’s sense of wonder.”
