Registration for MPI’s 2024 Collaboration Filmmakers Challenge (CFC) has officially opened! Sign up now here.

Originally founded by friend of MPI Joe Gressis, this one-of-a-kind filmmaking challenge is now part of MPI’s Rising Filmmaker Program and boasts over $20,000 in cash and prizes including a $5,000 development deal with Pathfinder Media!

Challenge participants are tasked with writing, shooting, and editing a short film inspired by a quote assigned at the beginning of the competition. These prompts have themes related to freedom and inspire compelling stories. To encourage collaboration, participants must provide help to at least one other filmmaker in the competition and receive help from at least one other participant.

The 12th annual CFC kicks off on May 21 at Citizen Public Market in Los Angeles where we will unveil this year’s theme. From there, participants have from May 22–June 5 to collaborate with other filmmakers to produce short films. The final screening is then held June 21 at the Harmony Gold Theater, where the strongest entries are shown to a packed house of industry professionals and judges including MPI senior vice president Lana Link and MPI creative council member Tanner Mobley.
