In this award-winning dramatic short, a father and son struggle to cope with the death of the family matriarch while at odds over their fledgling New York City street art business. Delun believes they are unable to sell replicas of his wife’s cityscape painting because his son Shuo’s technique has become sloppy. Disheartened, at his father’s behest Shuo takes a pilgrimage through the city to rediscover the beauty in his mother’s work. However, a vision from her makes Shuo realize he must explore beauty on his own terms to truly honor her legacy and save their family business.

The Perfect One was developed by MPI filmmaker Matthew Szewczyk in MPI’s Short Film Lab.
