The MPI Original feature Kemba screened last night at the Pan African Film and Arts Festival (PAFF) in Los Angeles, California. It was a gorgeous evening as lights lit up the palm trees around the red carpet for Kelley Kali, the director; Kemba Smith Pradia, the subject of the film and the executive producer; and several Kemba cast and crew members including June Carryl who played Elaine Jones, Kelsey Scott who played Michelle West, and Elvira Emanuelle who played Lisa. Michelle West’s daughter was also in attendance and able to meet Kelsey who played her mother.

Film critic Brooke Obie hosted a conversation with Kemba and Kelley following the screening, amplifying energy and excitement about the important topics Kemba tackles. PAFF is the largest Black film and arts festival in the United States. For over 30 years, it has been the international beacon for the African diaspora film and arts communities.
