The MPI Original feature narrative Freedom Hair will have its world premiere February 26 as an official selection at the 30th annual Sedona International Film Festival. 

Freedom Hair is based on the inspiring, true story of Melony Armstrong, a mother and entrepreneur who decides to start a natural hair braiding business in order to achieve financial independence. To realize her dream, she must overcome unexpected obstacles imposed by the state of Mississippi and a powerful cosmetology cartel. 

The film stars Simona Brown (Netflix’s Behind Her Eyes), Jeremie Harris (Legion, Fargo), Sophia Bush (Good Sam, False Positive), and Erica Tazel (Justified, Roots). Oscar nominee Dianne Houston wrote and directed the film with Melony serving as an executive producer.

Freedom Hair is set to screen twice at the Sedona, Arizona-based film festival with Melony, Dianne, and cast members Jeremie and Erica joining MPI executive producer Nick Reid at the premiere. To purchase tickets to attend, click here.
