We are excited to announce that MPI will be producing a new six-episode web series—We’re Doing Good. The comedic series will be written and directed by Elvira Ibragimova and follows a millennial couple that is aspiring to “do good” in the world. Despite their best efforts, however, they fail humorously and spectacularly at every turn, often harming the very causes they are trying to help. Elvira participated in MPI’s recent Comedy Workshop where she initially pitched us on the concept for this series.

Born in Soviet-era Uzbekistan, Elvira came to America as a political refugee when she was just 10 years old. She now lives in LA and is a former-architect-turned-award-winning-filmmaker, specializing in high-concept comedy. She is also a graduate of Second City’s Harold Ramis Film School.

Her pilot script, Magic, was a 2018 Quarter Finalist in the Austin Film Festival Script Competition, and her short films Dingus Wishes and Straight or Alive have been selected by more than a dozen film festivals—helping her secure a Viacom ViewFinder Emerging Directors Program fellowship, a year long training program for episodic television. She is also set to direct her first TV episode on Nickelodeon’s Danger Force, which is currently in pre-production.

“I’m so excited to work with MPI once again, this time, on a project that’s very personal to me,” said Elvira. “This idea is based on my own doomed attempts at do-goodery and I’m thrilled to be exploring the concept further with someone as creative as Lana and the rest of the MPI team.”

The series is slated to begin production in the spring of 2021.
