The MPI Original Film Melons will continue its impressive festival run next month as an official selection at the 2022 Indy Shorts International Film Festival. This Oscar-qualifying fest is the largest shorts festival in the Midwest, and MovieMaker magazine named it one of the top 20 best short film festivals in the world for 2022.

Melons was developed in MPI’s 2020 Short Film Lab by MPI filmmaker Matt MacDonald. The short stars Brian Huskey (Veep, People of Earth, Bob’s Burgers) in this delightful comedy about a jolly, but meek, grocery manager who learns to stand up for himself after a misunderstanding brands him as public enemy #1. The short also stars Martin Mull (Clue, Roseanne, Arrested Development).

Melons previously had its world premiere at the Oscar-qualifying Cleveland International Film Festival followed by its California premiere at the San Diego International Film Festival. Upcoming festival screenings also include the Pasadena International Film Festival and the Anthem Film Festival
