MPI is currently hiring a full-time, experienced professional staff writer to play a vital role in our efforts to effectively communicate MPI’s mission to create high-impact films designed to entertain, inspire, and educate audiences with captivating stories about human freedom. 

The staff writer will work in close collaboration with the development and communications teams to develop original copy and edit communications in order to solicit support through donor communications, expand our networks, and grow our audiences.

Principal Responsibilities

• Develop original content on tight deadlines including but not limited to quarterly mailed donor communications, emails to supporters, grants and fundraising proposals, prospecting communications, event invitations, annual reports, website copy, and promotional materials for films.
• Work with the development team to draft proposals and reports for donors and prospects.
• Create copy to be used for marketing materials including one-pagers, websites, invitations, e-newsletters, film pitch decks and lookbooks.
• Revise and edit all written materials produced by the organization.
• Maintain and revise the organizational style guide.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years in communications, grant writing, or fundraising.
• Meticulous copy editor with complete command of grammar, style, usage, and tone.
• Demonstrated ability to write and edit original content for a variety of audiences including donors, in-network individuals, and key stakeholders.
• Ability to comfortably write in other’s style and tone.
• Excellent multitasker who works efficiently on tight deadlines.
