Take a closer look at how the MPI Original short Pocket Change, written and directed by MPI filmmakers Heston Roewe and Tanner Mobley, came together in this new behind-the-scenes video below.

Starring Freddy Rodriguez (Six Feet Under, Planet Terror, Poseidon), Pocket Change centers on a mysterious drifter and his seemingly worthless quarter—an object that may be the key to saving a group of strangers when the power goes out at a remote roadside diner. 

In this short reel, the directors reflect on the film’s premise and themes, as well as their journey developing the project through MPI’s Short Film Lab and bringing it to life through the Production Lab.

Pocket Change is currently playing at film festivals around the country. It will screen tonight, Friday, March 13, at 6:45 p.m. at the Awesome Con Short Film Festival, part of one of the largest pop culture conventions in the country, in Washington, DC. 

The film will also screen at one of the Midwest’s leading film festivals, the Omaha Film Festival, on Saturday, March 14, at 5:35 p.m., Shorts Block 9, in Omaha, Nebraska. Get your tickets here.
