Over the weekend, the MPI Original Infraction won the Audience Award for Best Short Film at the Naples International Film Festival in Florida. The short was written and directed by MPI filmmaker Timothy Blackwood.

Timothy attended the festival where he shared with audiences his sincere admiration for the subject of the film Terrance Lewis, an innocent man who was incarcerated for 21 years—but through it all maintains a remarkable work ethic and strong character. And later forms an unlikely friendship with a prison guard that has life-altering ramifications.

This short premiered at the Pan African Film Festival and was nominated for the Best Narrative Short jury award. It won Best Narrative Short at the Kansas City Film Festival; Best Narrative Short, Audience Choice Award, and Best Original Score at the Anthem Film Festival; Best Story Line at the Boston International Film Festival; and Best Actor at the Richmond International Film Festival.

Infraction was workshopped in MPI’s Short Film Lab where it was subsequently chosen to be produced as an MPI Original. It stars Percy Daggs III (Veronica Mars) and Kevin Oestenstad (Chicago P.D., CSI: Cyber).
