The MPI Original short film Infraction recently won the Jury Award for Sound Design at the Woods Hole Film Festival. This film was developed in our Short Film Lab by MPI filmmaker Timothy Blackwood. Marc Mellons mixed the original score by Juan Carlos Enriquez with the dialogue and SFX.

Starring Percy Daggs III (Veronica Mars) and Kevin Oestenstad (CSI: Cyber), Infraction tells the story of an innocent man, imprisoned for a murder he didn’t commit, who forms an unlikely friendship with a prison guard. Their relationship has life-altering ramifications for each of them when the guard must choose between his job and standing up for his friend.

This MPI Original won Best Narrative Short at the Kansas City Film Festival. And at the Anthem Film Festival, it took home Best Narrative Short, the Audience Choice Award, and Best Original Score. Film festival popularity speaks to a concept’s quality and resonance.

Infraction is an official selection at the Middlebury Film Festival today at 11:30 a.m. and has six more screenings at festivals this coming month!
