In a new featurette released this week, MPI filmmaker Trần Hoàng Calvin reflects on the MPI Original documentary short A Clean Slate. Developed by Trần in an MPI Documentary Production Lab, this uplifting doc follows Shanyeill McCloud’s work with Clean Slate Milwaukee, a nonprofit she founded in 2012 which helps formerly incarcerated people expunge their records and start their lives again.

In the video below Trần discusses his personal connection to the issue of expungement and the impact he hopes the documentary will have.
