The MPI Original short The One-Minute Problem has just begun its festival run and has already earned two awards. Written and directed by MPI filmmaker Nick Delgado, the film won Best Sci-Fi at the LA-based Pasadena International Film Festival and Best Sci-Fi Short at the Phoenix Film Festival, two respected festivals known for spotlighting standout independent films and emerging talent.
Developed through MPI’s Short Film Lab and produced through the MPI Production Lab, the film follows a young scientist on the verge of inventing teleportation. As he races to perfect his breakthrough and reunite with his family, he must outsmart an overzealous Department of Water and Power bureaucrat determined to shut his project down.
