The MPI Original short The One-Minute Problem, written and directed by MPI filmmaker Nick Delgado, will have its US premiere on Thursday, April 9, at 5:40 p.m. in Block 3 at the Pasadena International Film Festival in Los Angeles. Known for showcasing a wide range of independent films from around the world, the festival is a respected platform for emerging and established filmmakers alike. Developed through MPI’s Short Film Lab and produced through the MPI Production Lab, the film follows a young scientist on the verge of inventing teleportation. As he races to perfect his breakthrough and reunite with his family, he must outsmart an overzealous Department of Water and Power bureaucrat determined to shut his project down.
The film features an international cast led by Gorka Otxoa, a Goya Award–nominated actor known for Pagafantas, Netflix’s Fe de etarras, and the hit series Machos Alfa. He is joined by Brendan Coyle, internationally recognized for his role as John Bates in the Emmy-winning series Downton Abbey, along with Marta Guerras, who has appeared in films directed by Álex de la Iglesia and in the Netflix series Las últimas de la fila. The cast also includes Kwami Odoom, known for performances at Shakespeare’s Globe and the National Theatre.
