The MPI Original documentary short Remnants has been nominated for Best Documentary and Best Director (Documentary) at the Cowpokes International Film Festival (CIFF) in Electra, Texas. The film will screen at the festival on Friday, April 10, at 1 p.m. at the Grand Theatre. Learn more here.
Developed through the MPI Documentary Storytelling Workshop and produced through MPI’s Production Lab, Remnants follows a sixth-generation ranching family grappling with the legacy of the American cowboy after a devastating wildfire ravages their land. As policy pressures threaten their livelihood and cultural shifts challenge their way of life, the family faces difficult questions about what it means to carry tradition forward in a rapidly changing world.
Ahead of CIFF, Remnants will screen as an official selection at multiple festivals across the country. Its first showing is at the Thin Line Fest in Denton, Texas, on Saturday, March 21, at 12:00 p.m. One of the largest documentary film festivals in the state, Thin Line Fest brings together filmmakers, photographers, and musicians for a multi-day celebration of storytelling and the arts. The film will then screen at the American Documentary and Animation Film Festival in Palm Springs, California, on Saturday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. As one of the largest festivals of its kind in the United States, it showcases acclaimed documentary and animated films from around the world and draws leading voices in nonfiction and animation.
