As reported in Variety, the MPI Original Film Pinball will screen as the closing night film for the UK’s 30th Raindance Film Festival. One of the largest independent film festivals in the UK, Raindance attracts thousands of attendees each year and is currently rated as a top ten international film festival for filmmakers to consider by StudioBinder.

Pinball is based on the true story of Roger Sharpe, GQ journalist and real-life pinball wizard, who in 1976 helped overturn New York City’s 35-year ban on pinball. The feature film stars Mike Faist, Crystal Reed, and Dennis Boutsikaris.

Mickey La Rosa, for the festival, writes: “A terrific screenplay with snappy dialogue is aided by a superb cast, headed by Faist—as electrifying as in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story—who carries the whole film gloriously. In the romantic lead, Reed (TV’s Teen Wolf and Gotham) brings great ebullience and affection to the piece. Writing in an older version of Sharpe (Better Call Saul regular Dennis Boutsikaris) to act as a sort of Greek chorus—adding amusing commentary at various stages—was a stroke of genius. A riotous movie that hits all the crowd-pleasing (pinball) buttons.”

The screening will be held in London with a closing night gala to follow on November 5 at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are available now to purchase.
