This week, MPI hosted its in-person Intern Summit in Los Angeles. This two-day program brought together participants from the spring and summer Hollywood Career Launch Program (HCLP), featuring sessions focused on professionalism, creative development, and building a career in the entertainment industry. Participants also heard from MPI alumni and industry professionals through a series of panels and discussions designed to provide practical insight into navigating the film and television world.
Throughout the summit, interns connected through networking events and participated in a tour of Universal Studios, offering a closer look at one of the industry’s leading studios.
This year’s participants include emerging filmmakers already building impressive careers across the industry, with experience spanning feature films, festival-recognized shorts, writers’ rooms, and productions with companies like Paramount, Apple TV, Millennium Media, Angel Studios, and Miramax. Many have already directed their own films, earned awards and grants, and worked across development, production, and post-production. Through MPI, they are working to build successful careers in Hollywood while creating films that entertain audiences and advance the ideas of human freedom through storytelling.
Former HCLP intern Grace Brady, who recently served as an associate producer on the MPI Original short films The Last Word, Negative Space, and You’ve Got Matches, reflected on the role MPI’s programs played in shaping her growth as a filmmaker:
“MPI’s programs have been instrumental in my growth as a filmmaker,” Brady shared. “Support like this is rare in the industry—people who not only invest in you as an artist, but genuinely care about you as a person. There is a real desire to see you succeed and to actively support that journey. I’ve been especially moved by the belief that the mentors I’ve connected with through MPI have shown in me, and I think that has been the greatest gift.”
Applications for the HCLP are accepted on a rolling basis, so if you’re looking to level up your skills and expand your network, be sure to apply here
