This past weekend the MPI Original Series We’re Doing Good had its world premiere as an official selection at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival. SXSW is one of the world’s preeminent festivals, accepting only a small number of projects from the thousands that are submitted each year.

Series leads Emily Pendergast (HBO’s Veep) and Jonathan Braylock (Netflix’s Astronomy Club) joined writer-director Elvira Ibragimova and the MPI Original Films production team for the packed screening in Austin, where we debuted the first episode in the series, “Compost!” The episode follows characters Nora and Miles as they spend a day driving around looking for a nonexistent compost bin while their frozen food scraps melt in the backseat—testing their commitment to the cause (and to each other).

After the screening, Ibragimova joined producer and MPI senior vice president Lana Link, Pendergast, and Braylock on stage to discuss what inspired the series, which Ibragimova wittingly said was, unfortunately, real-life experiences she had with her partner, and the series’ director of photography, Samuel Ott.

The episode will screen again at SXSW later this week on Thursday, March 17 at noon. Click here for more details.
