Congratulations to MPI filmmakers Austin and Meredith Bragg, who recently won the Rising Star Award at the Naples International Film Festival for their work on the MPI Original Film A Piece of Cake. 

This latest accolade is another impressive win for the film, which has screened at nearly two dozen film festivals and received six awards including the jury award for Best Comedy and the Audience Choice Award in Comedy at the Indy Shorts International Film Festival, an Academy Award-qualifying festival presented by Heartland Film. 

“I’m proud of the response the film has received. Our primary goal is always to make an entertaining film for the audience, and the feedback thus far has been tremendous,” said Austin during a recent interview with Film and TV Now. 

Next week, A Piece of Cake will screen at HollyShorts Film Festival, its fourth Oscar-qualifying fest. Audiences can also catch the film during November at the Orlando Film Festival, the Lone Star Film Festival, the Pittsburgh Shorts Film Festival, the Alexandria Film Festival, and the Foyle Film Festival.
