The MPI Original feature Motherland recently earned the Best Director Award for MPI filmmaker Evan Matthews at the Evolution Mallorca International Film Festival in Mallorca, Spain. Recognized as one of Europe’s fastest-growing film festivals, Evolution Mallorca has become a leading destination for world premieres and a hub for filmmakers, distributors, and audiences from around the world.

This 1984-esque feature takes place in an alternate present society where the state frees parents from the burden of raising children. Everything seems perfect until a rule enforcer learns a shocking truth that sparks her rebellion.

Motherland stars Tony Award winner Miriam Silverman (Your Neighbors and Friends, Landman), legendary Emmy winner Holland Taylor (The Morning Show, Hollywood), Emmy Award winner Néstor Carbonell (Shōgun, The Morning Show), and rising star Emily Arancio.
