Set in an alternative present where state-run Children’s Centers raise all citizens, Motherland presents a system designed to ensure equal opportunity and relieve parents of child-rearing responsibilities. That system begins to unravel when a Motherland enforcer discovers the true identity of a young woman in her care. As a new program seeks to address population decline, she must decide whether to uphold the system or risk everything to protect the young woman from becoming part of it.
