A review this week in Starry Constellation Magazine called the MPI Original short A Piece of Cake, starring Rich Sommer (Mad Men), “truly a must watch.”

Created by MPI filmmakers Austin and Meredith Bragg, A Piece of Cake follows a father on a high-stakes journey to secure the banned birthday cake decorations he promised his daughter.

The film has been chosen as an official selection by two Oscar-qualifying film festivals, the Cleveland International Film Festival and the Tribeca Film Festival where it was also nominated for Best Narrative Short.

The review praises the film’s talented leads Sommer, Natalie Britton, and Riona O’Donnell for their chemistry and comedic timing and highlights the impressive cinematography that sets the tone throughout the film.

“I loved every second of A Piece of Cake from start to finish as I was left laughing. However, it was the tender notes of the family that really drove into the heart of me, watching a father battling moral conflicts because of the love he has for his daughter in such a different way than I was used to seeing in other films.”
