Kemba Smith Pradia, the subject and executive producer of the MPI and BET Original feature film Kemba, recently gave an interview to NPR’s Weekend Edition Sunday with Ayesha Rascoe to discuss the film and the urgent need for sentencing reform. During the interview, Pradia highlighted the alarming rise in women’s incarceration rates, especially among women of color, due to harsh drug laws. She emphasized the importance of making healthier choices, particularly for young women, and expressed hope that the film will inspire viewers to engage in discussions and activism around sentencing reform and policy changes.
