The official trailer for the MPI Original documentary short The Dying Business dropped today, just ahead of the film’s screening at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

Directed by MPI filmmaker Joe Duca, The Dying Business was developed through the MPI Documentary Storytelling Workshop and produced in MPI’s Production Lab.

The short follows Frank Jr., a small-town funeral home owner preparing to hand down his family business to his sons, Bradley and Frankie III. But with a declining local population, the growing popularity of low-cost cremations, and increasing government regulation, the family faces mounting challenges.

As they struggle to adapt and keep their legacy alive, the Ducas must confront difficult questions: Can tradition survive in a changing world? And what happens when a family business built on care and community begins to fade away?
