This month, the MPI Original short film Infraction received the awards for Best Drama and an audience award, while lead actor Percy Daggs III was honored with the Best Male Lead award at the Bridgeport Film Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Since beginning its festival run in 2023, this inspirational short has garnered over twenty accolades.
Developed in MPI’s Short Film Lab by talented filmmaker Timothy Blackwood, Infraction tells the compelling true story of Terrance Lewis, an innocent man unjustly imprisoned for twenty-one years. Despite facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, Lewis maintains a steadfast work ethic and character. His unexpected friendship with a prison guard ultimately leads to profound and life-altering consequences.
Infraction was previously nominated for Best Narrative Short at the Pan African Film Festival and won Best Narrative Short at the Kansas City Film Festival; Best Narrative Short, the Audience Choice Award, and Best Original Score at the Anthem Film Festival; the Indie Soul Best Story Line Award in Boston; Best Actor in Richmond, Virginia (awarded to Daggs); and the Audience Award for Best Short Film in Naples, Florida. More recently, the film received the People’s Choice Award out of seventy films at the West Chester Film Festival.
