The inspiring MPI Original Film Miss Virginia continues to resonate with audiences around the world. The film, starring Uzo Aduba (Mrs. America, Orange Is the New Black), is based on the real-life story of Virginia Walden Ford, a struggling single mother terrified she’ll lose her 15-year-old son, James, to the rough streets of Washington, DC. Determined not to see him drop out and deal drugs, Virginia takes on a janitorial position as a second job so she can place him in a private school. But with roadblocks frequently popping up along the way, an expensive school is not attainable for James—or for the many other disadvantaged children who don’t have access to the educational opportunities they need to escape the endless cycle of poverty.

Since its release, hundreds of community grassroots screenings have taken place, inspiring parents to take action to transform the lives of countless children who find themselves stuck in an educational system that is failing them.
