This Thanksgiving, we want to thank you for supporting the Moving Picture Institute (MPI). Your belief in our mission to develop pro-liberty filmmakers and create films that entertain, inspire, and educate audiences about the ideals of freedom is what makes our work possible.
2025 has been a monumental year for MPI. Motherland is now streaming on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, and Fandango at Home. Set in a society where the state assumes the role of raising children, the film highlights the enduring strength of family bonds. It screened at 14 festivals, received 21 nominations, and earned 12 awards—including Best Feature Film and Best Director.
This fall, we completed principal photography on our largest and most logistically complex feature to date, One Second After, a gripping survival drama adapted from the New York Times bestseller by William R. Forstchen. Set in a small town struggling to survive after an electromagnetic pulse attack wipes out all modern technology, the story raises timely questions about resilience, community, and personal responsibility.
Meanwhile, short films developed through the Short Film Lab, Documentary Storytelling Workshop, and Production Lab continue to earn recognition on the festival circuit. With eleven short films progressing through these programs—eight completed and five premiering this year—MPI’s creative output continues to accelerate at an unprecedented pace.
This year also marked MPI’s twentieth anniversary, commemorated in October with a weekend of events in Los Angeles that brought together our filmmakers and supporters. The milestone honored two decades of achievement—empowering more than 750 freedom-minded filmmakers and producing over 30 films—and celebrated the growing community that continues to carry MPI’s vision forward.
As we look to what’s next, your support allows MPI to continue helping filmmakers take their work to the next stage and share stories rooted in the ideals of freedom.
We wish you a happy Thanksgiving! If you’re looking for a film to watch with family this holiday, you can find MPI’s releases here.
