MPI’s original feature film Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game will screen on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Knickerbocker Theatre in Holland, Michigan. Hosted by Hope College’s Markets & Morality student organization, this will be the third MPI film screened by Dr. Sarah Estelle, professor of economics at Hope College. Following the public screening, co-director and longtime MPI filmmaker Meredith Bragg, along with Joseph Corey, MPI’s vice president of philanthropic investments, will participate in a fireside chat and Q&A. We hope you will join us for this event.
The film tells the true story of Roger Sharpe, a mild-mannered journalist who helped overturn New York City’s 35-year ban on pinball in 1976 by demonstrating—live in court—that the game is one of skill, not chance. Pinball uses a playful narrative style to revisit a little-known chapter of American history and the unlikely hero who reshaped it.
If you’re unable to attend, the film is available to stream online. Starring Mike Faist and Crystal Reed, Pinball offers a charming blend of humor, romance, and character-driven storytelling, bringing warmth and emotional depth to Sharpe’s journey. Celebrated by critics and audiences with a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes rating, the film is streaming on Hulu, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime Video.
