Screening: ‘Freedom Hair’ // Institute for Justice

The Institute for Justice will host a special grassroots screening of the MPI Original feature film Freedom Hair and a Q&A with the film’s executive producer and subject Melony Armstrong, at the ACX Harper Theater in Hyde Park on Thursday, February 20.

Freedom Hair is based on the inspiring, true story of Melony, a mother and entrepreneur who decides to start a natural hair braiding business in order to achieve financial independence. However, to realize her dream, she must overcome unexpected obstacles imposed by the state of Mississippi and a powerful cosmetology cartel. The film stars Simona Brown (Netflix’s Behind Her Eyes), Jeremie Harris (Legion, Fargo), Sophia Bush (Good Sam, False Positive), and Erica Tazel (Justified, Roots).
