As exclusively reported in Deadline, Hannah John-Kamen (Thunderbolts*, Ant-Man and the Wasp) has joined the cast of MPI Original Films’ feature One Second After, starring alongside the previously announced Josh Holloway (Duster, Yellowstone, Lost).

John-Kamen will portray Makalya, a nurse stranded in Black Mountain following a catastrophic electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack that cripples the nation. Partnering with John (Holloway), Makalya fights to keep the community alive as modern society unravels, offering both medical expertise and emotional resilience in the face of collapse.

John-Kamen can currently be seen in Marvel’s Thunderbolts* franchise, reprising her role as Ghost from Ant-Man and the Wasp. She stars alongside Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Sebastian Stan, and David Harbour. She is presently filming Avengers: Doomsday, which expands her character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Her recent credits include leading roles in Unwelcome (Warner Bros.), the Resident Evil reboot (Sony/Screen Gems), and Copperhead, directed by Jamie Marshall and co-starring Lucien Laviscount, Lewis Tan, and Holt McCallany. On television, she appears in Netflix’s The Stranger and Amblin’s Brave New World. She previously starred in Black Mirror, Tomb Raider, Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal (opposite Taron Egerton), and Ready Player One.

As announced, award-winning stunt coordinator and second unit director Scott Rogers (Tron: Ares, John Wick: Chapter 4) will direct the film, a co-production between MPI Original Films (Motherland, Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game) and Startling Inc. (House of the Dragon, Game of Thrones). The feature is adapted from the New York Times–bestselling novel of the same name, with a screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski (Sense8, Babylon 5, Jeremiah). Principal photography begins this month in Sofia, Bulgaria.

MPI’s Rob Pfaltzgraff and Nick Reid, along with Startling Inc.’s Matt Kennedy, are producing. William R. Forstchen, author of One Second After, serves as executive producer.

John-Kamen is repped by Scott Marshall Partners, Paradigm, and manager Luber Roklin.
