Screening: ‘Freedom Hair’ // Office of Black Community Engagement

The Office of Black Community Engagement will host a special grassroots screening of the MPI Original feature film Freedom Hair in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday, February 1.

Freedom Hair is based on the inspiring, true story of Melony Armstrong, a mother and entrepreneur who decides to start a natural hair braiding business in order to achieve financial independence. However, to realize her dream, she must overcome unexpected obstacles imposed by the state of Mississippi and a powerful cosmetology cartel. The film stars Simona Brown (Netflix’s Behind Her Eyes), Jeremie Harris (Legion, Fargo), Sophia Bush (Good Sam, False Positive), and Erica Tazel (Justified, Roots).
