With children heading back to school, now is a great time to jump-start a conversation in your community on how to best position your kids for educational success. MPI is proud to help people across the country facilitate in-person and virtual screenings of the MPI Original Film Miss Virginia to ignite that positive change.

Starring three-time Emmy award winner Uzo Aduba, Miss Virginia is inspired by the story of Virginia Walden Ford, a struggling single mother from a low-income neighborhood in Washington, DC. Affectionately called “Miss Virginia” and “the Education Lady” by neighborhood children, Virginia fought to create a scholarship program for her at-risk son and children like him. And she won.

Click here to receive more information on hosting a screening of your own. Groups of all sizes are invited to host an event. MPI’s impact producers will provide you the tools to facilitate a productive post-screening conversation. Every host will receive a discussion guide that includes brainstorming activities to get your group interacting, best practices for executing a panel discussion, suggested Q&A, information on how to find allies in your fight, and take-home materials for your guests to share with others.

Inspire your family, friends, neighbors, and local policy makers by hosting a screening, and start your movement for change today!
